The 48th SEAMEO Council Conference (SEAMEC 48) was held from 6 – 8 May 2015 in Pattaya, Thailand.
More than 200 delegates participated in the meeting, including Ministers of Education of the eleven SEAMEO Member Countries, delegations of the Associate Member Countries and Affiliate Members, SEAMEO Secretariat, SEAMEO Regional Center Directors, and other guests.

SEAMEC 48 is a forum where the Ministers discuss regional matters, specifically perspectives and strategies for educational development of the countries and the region and the joint efforts of SEAMEO members in building ASEAN Community in 2015 and the following years.
The conference reviewed reports and the implementation of SEAMEO College as well as of the recommendations from the Strategic Dialogue of Education Ministers in Lao PDR in 2014 which emphasized several Southeast Asian educational post-2015 priorities. The participants were also informed about the regional activities for celebrating SEAMEO 50th Anniversary and the tentative schedule of SEAMEC 49 which, according to the principle of rotation and protocol, will be held in Indonesia in 2017.
During the Conference, Thai Minister of Education was unanimously elected SEAMEO Council President and Chair of SEAMEC 48.
